
Pirates Sweep Top Four in Victory at Salisbury

Salisbury, Md. – The Seton Hall women's cross country team opened the 2023 season with a strong showing at the Salisbury Fall Classic, sweeping the top four spots and placing five runners inside the top-10 en route to the team victory.
Julia Smith (Pittsgrove, N.J.) opened her junior season by picking up her first career win, completing the 6k course in a time of 21:58.26. Smith was followed by Caitlin Fahy (Ringwood, N.J.) in second place with a time of 22:05.37. Honey Strosnider (Fairfield, Pa.) took third place, finishing in 22:09.46.
The Pirates saw a pair of freshman finish inside the top-10 in their first career races. Paige Quigley (Sacramento, Calif.) crossed the finish line in fourth place with a time of 22:13.19. Kayla Carrino (Lyndhurst, N.J.) took home a ninth place finish, clocking a time of 23:10.90.
Three more Pirates finished the race with a top-20 finish. Hannah Cullum (San Antonio, Texas) and Taj Lanier (Lincoln University, Pa.) took 13th and 14th place, respectively, followed by Brianna Peiffer (Missouri City, Texas) in 20th place.
The Pirates return to action next Saturday as they compete in the Dutchmen Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley College.
