
Baines Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The graduate student earns the honor for the fifth time this year.
NEW YORK – Seton Hall graduate student Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the fifth time this season.

Baines had another strong week for the Pirates in a pair of BIG EAST games. The graduate student led The Hall with 13.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week. On Tuesday against No. 23 Marquette, Baines tallied 12 points to go with six rebounds and three steals. On Saturday in Seton Hall's victory at Xavier, she had team-highs of 14 points and eight rebounds to go with three assists, three steals and three blocks in a strong all-around effort in Cincinnati.

Marquette's Liza Karlen was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Connecticut's Ashlynn Shade was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. In addition to Baines, members of the Weekly Honor Roll include Connecticut's Paige Bueckers, Creighton's Emma Ronsiek, Providence's Oliva Olsen and Villanova's Lucy Olsen.

Seton Hall will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 17 when it returns to historic Walsh Gymnasium to host No. 13 Connecticut. Tip time is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. The game will be televised on SNY with Allen Bestwick and Meg Culmo on the call. Mike Federico and Ryan Johnston will carry the broadcast for WSOU FM or wsou.net.
