
Pirates Battle, But Fall to No. 6 Creighton

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Both Hadlee Ackerman (Atlanta, Ga.) and Mason Woo (Burbank, Calif.) reached double-figures in digs, but despite a strong defensive showing, the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell to No. 6 Creighton, 3-0 (14-25, 13-25, 11-25), in Walsh Gymnasium on Saturday.

In each of the first two sets, the Pirates played some of their best defense of the season, but the Bluejays showed why they're the sixth-ranked team in the country. Â Despite Seton Hall's best defensive efforts, Creighton had a .311 attack percentage for the match.

Ackerman had a team-best 13 digs, while Woo added 11 digs, seven of which came in the first set alone.

Offensively, Senna Roberts-Navarro (Honolulu, Hawaii) led Seton Hall in kills for a third straight match. She finished with seven kills to go with six digs. Maddie Klungel (Napa, Calif.) had a team-high 20 assists to go with four digs and two kills.

The opening set was hard-fought with long points. Down, 13-8, The Hall scored five of the next six points to cut its deficit to only one point and force a Creighton timeout. Out of the break, however, the Bluejays went on an 8-0 run to grab a commanding 22-13 advantage. A block by Roberts-Navarro and Grace Turner (La Grange Highlands, Ill.) delayed the loss, but The Hall fell, 25-14.

The second set was similar in that the Pirates played closely until late. With the score tied at 10, the Bluejays went on a 10-1 run to grab a 20-11 lead. Kills by Klungel and Reagan Merk (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and gave The Hall 13 points, but Creighton went on to win, 25-13.

Creighton dominated the final set, leading wire-to-wire after scoring the set's first seven points. A kill by Hanna Tulli (Collegeville, Pa.) cut Seton Hall's deficit to 12-6, but the Bluejays answered with an 8-1 run to give them a 20-7 advantage. Creighton closed out the match with a 25-11 set three victory.

The Pirates will return to action on Friday, Nov. 1 when it travels to Chicago for a contest at DePaul. The match is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. ET.
