
Six Pirates Named CSC Academic All-District

South Orange, N.J. - Six members of the Seton Hall women's soccer team were named to College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District team; senior Anna Prawer (London, England), senior Rachel Gerrie (Littleton, Colo.), senior Phoebe Hampson (Cheshire, England), graduate student Brina Micheels (Plattsburgh, N.Y.), senior Chiara Pucci (Munich, Germany) and senior Natalie Tavana (Middletown, Conn.).
The All-District team recognizes the nation's top soccer student-athletes for their combined performances on the pitch and in the classroom. Athletes must have at least a 3.5 GPA. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Prawer started in 18 of the 19 matches in goal for the Pirates and recorded 38 saves with a save percentage of 0.691. She registered a season high five saves in four matches against North Carolina, Yale, DePaul, and Creighton.Â
Gerrie started in all 19 matches on the back line for the Pirates this past season and logged 1,505 minutes, the fourth most on the squad. She also assisted on a goal against NJIT to help lift The Hall to victory.
Hampson started in all 19 matches and finished the season with four points including a goal against DePaul. She recorded a season high two shots on goal against Yale while also playing the full match six times this season.
Micheels started in eight of the 18 matches for the Pirates and recorded two shots on goal including one against Marist and one against FDU.
Pucci held down the Seton Hall defense at center back all season and was rewarded by the league's head coaches with third team All-BIG EAST honors. She led the Pirates in minutes in BIG EAST play with 810 and she scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Providence on Oct. 6. She's tied for eighth in Seton Hall history in career games played with 72 and all three of her career goals were scored this season. Along with her game-winner over the Friars, Pucci scored the go-ahead goal on a penalty kick in The Hall's season-opening win over Hofstra.
Tavana started all 19 matches and was named team captain. She led the team in points, with seven, tied for second on the team in goals with two, led the team in assists with three, second on the team in minutes played with 1,588, led the team in shots on goal with 29 and led the team in shots with 65. She also recorded a season high five shots on goal against Rider and tallied two assists against St. John's.
