LAST GAME
Junior Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) had a game-high 24 points and Mariana Valenzuela (Mazatlan, Mexico) had a double-double as the Seton Hall women's basketball team defeated Xavier, 75-55, in Walsh Gymnasium on Sunday.

For three quarters it was a scrappy, foul-infested affair, until the Pirates offense took control in the final 10 minutes. Seton Hall out-scored Xavier, 26-to-12, in the fourth quarter, which included nine points from Catalon.Â

Catalon had 24 points, three steals and drew 11 Xavier fouls. Valenzuela tallied 16 points to go with a game-high 10 rebounds and three blocks for her second career double-double.Â

Jordana Codio (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Ja'Kahla Craft (Elk River, Minn.) came off the bench and scored 12 points apiece.

Seton Hall and Georgetown will rekindle their long-time rivalry on New Year's Eve. The Pirates own a 47-30 all-time series lead and have won 10 of the last 11 games in the series. Last year, the teams only met once due to the formerly imbalanced schedule. The Hall outlasted the Hoyas, 74-71, in overtime in Walsh Gym. The Pirates have won the last eight games against Georgetown in Walsh Gym. The Hoyas' last victory in Walsh came on Feb. 9, 2018.

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown finished 10th in the standings last season with a 4–14 conference record and a 12–19 overall mark.  The Hoyas return senior Victoria Rivera, who ranked first on the team in three pointers (62), and Brianna Scott, who missed the 2024-25 season due to injury.  Georgetown adds six transfers, including Laila Jewett from UCF, who averaged 8.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in 29 games in 2024-25.

This season, the Hoyas were picked to finish seventh in the 11-team BIG EAST according to its Preseason Coaches' Poll. Rivera was named an Honorable Mention for the 2025-26 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Â

Georgetown enters Wednesday's contest with an 8-4 record overall and a 1-2 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. The Hoyas have won three of their last four game, and most recently, picked up their first BIG EAST victory with a 76-74 victory over Creighton in D.C. on Sunday. Georgetown has lost to Villanova and at Providence. The Hoyas have eight players averaging at least 6.1 points per game, but no one with more than Khia Miller's 11.4.
