Errors Plague Seton Hall In Loss At Rutgers

Piscataway, N.J. – Despite matching Rutgers with 12 hits, the Seton Hall baseball team committed four errors that plagued a winning effort as the Scarlet Knights defeated the Pirates, 11-4, Tuesday evening.
Of Rutgers' 11 runs only five of them were earned. Aiden Robbins went 3-for-5, giving him 18 multi-hit games this season and eight three-hit performances, and Jimmy Brennan had a run scored and an RBI double. AJ Soldra also had a multi-hit game, his 12th of the season, going 2-for-5.
How It Happened
Rutgers loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the first and starter Tomas Cestero looked to have forced an inning-ending groundout but a fielding error allowed a run to score. Cestero forced a groundout to end the threat and he would go on to retire the side in order in the bottom of the second inning.
After a scoreless frame thrown by Jayson Torres out of the bullpen in the bottom of the third, the first three Pirates reached base in the top of the fourth that loaded the bases. With one out and Andrew Bianco at the plate, a passed ball brought home Jimmy Brennan and a wild pitch on the very next offering brought home Kevin Milewski that made it a one-run game. Bianco would go on to tie up the score at 3-3 with an RBI single up the middle that plated Magnus Krieger.
Despite clawing back to tie the game, Rutgers answered with three runs in the home half of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead. The Scarlet Knights tacked on another run in the fifth to extend their advantage to 5-3. A six-run sixth inning for Rutgers put the game out of reach for The Hall.
