Women's Soccer Opens BIG EAST Play on Saturday at Villanova

South Orange, N.J. – After a strong non-conference showing to open the season, the Seton Hall women's soccer team kicks off BIG EAST play on Saturday afternoon with a trip to face Villanova. Match time is slated for 4 p.m. with live coverage available on ESPN+.

Seton Hall wrapped up non-conference action with a 1-1 draw at Lehigh last Sunday afternoon. Adria Kitzinger scored her second goal of the season in the first half to put the Pirates ahead. Lehigh would respond in the 59^th minute to level the score at 1-1, but the Pirate defense would thwart off multiple threatening chances for the home side down the stretch to preserve the draw.

Seton Hall joins Butler as the only two BIG EAST teams to have just one loss so far this season.
The Pirates have scored 12 goals so far this season, tying them with Villanova for fourth in the BIG EAST.
Freshman goalkeeper Kate Kleinsmith made her first two career starts last week, making nine saves and recording one clean sheet en route to being named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
The Pirates erupted to open the 2025 season, going unbeaten through their first five matches of the season for just the third time ever.
The two previous five-game unbeaten stretches to open a season for the Pirates came in 2012 (5-0-0) and 1998 (4-0-1).
Junior transfer Gianna Angelillo has gotten off to a blistering start. She enters play with five goals on the season, good for the third-most in the BIG EAST.
A Pirate recorded a brace in each of the first three games this season. Gianna Angelillo has done so twice, scoring a pair of goals against both Monmouth and Rider. Freshman Paige Shaughnessy also notched a two-goal performance, doing so in the win over Iona.
Shaughnessy's brace allowed her to receive BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors. She is the first Pirate to receive Freshman of the Week honors since Lily Camacho on Aug. 28, 2023.

Head Coach Josh Osit enters his fourth season at the helm of the Seton Hall women's soccer program in 2025.
Seton Hall has posted its most points in a two-year span since 2007-08 and has placed players on the all-conference team in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2010-11.
In just his second season in 2023, Osit guided the Pirates to 10 points in conference matches, the most for the program since 2011.
Osit inherited a program that has posted just 12 points in BIG EAST play over the previous four seasons combined.
Osit's signing class was ranked No. 29 in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.com back in April, marking the second straight season in which the Pirates had a top-50 class from the publication.

The Pirates welcome in an exciting group of new talent in 2025, welcoming in 13 newcomers consisting of three transfers and 10 freshmen.
Gianna Angelillo transfers in from Louisville by way of Miami, playing a total of 27 matches over her first two seasons of collegiate soccer. Brianna Azevedo (Rutgers) and Shea Boyle (Boston College) also bring previous college experience to the team this season.
Of the 10 freshmen coming to South Orange, three were included in TopDrawerSoccer's rankings: Isabella Calabro (152^nd), Jordana Bello (153^rd) and Danni Hennessy (197^th).
