Valenzuela Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Mariana Valenzuela (Mazatlan, Mexico) was named to the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

Valenzuela continued her tremendous final collegiate season during a pair of BIG EAST games last week. The Mexico native led The Hall with 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. On Tuesday in Seton Hall's victory over Providence, Valenzuela had 15 points on the strength of three made three-pointers with a team-high eight rebounds. Against No. 1 Connecticut on Saturday, she had game-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds, including the first six points of the game.Â

Connecticut's Sarah Strong and Blanca Quinonez were named BIG EAST Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively. Those joining Valenzuela on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll include: Butler's Saniya Jackson, Creighton's Grace Boffeli, Marquette's Halle Vice and St. John's Brooke Moore.

Seton Hall will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 29 when it travels to Washington, D.C. for a game at BIG EAST rival Georgetown. Tip time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The game will be streamed live by ESPN+.
