LAST GAME
Graduate student Mariana Valenzuela (Mazatlan, Mexico) had a game-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds, but the Seton Hall women's basketball team fell to No. 1 Connecticut, 92-52, on Saturday in Walsh Gymnasium.

Seton Hall didn't appear to be intimidated early, scoring the first six points of the game and trailing by only five with 1:16 left in the first quarter. UConn's full-court press, however, wore down the Pirates as the game progressed, and the Huskies forced 27 turnovers for the game.

Valenzuela had 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting with eight rebounds and two steals. Junior Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) finished with 13 points, four rebounds, two steals and drew nine UConn fouls.

Seton Hall and Georgetown will meet for the second time this season on Thursday. The Pirates own a 48-30 all-time series lead and have won the last four games against the Hoyas and 11 of the last 12. The last time Seton Hall visited McDonough Arena, the Pirates trailed 21-2 after the first quarter, but rallied to defeat the Hoyas, 57-49, on Dec. 20, 2023.

Twelve players scored and the Seton Hall women's basketball team set a new program record for margin of victory in a BIG EAST game with an 81-36 victory over Georgetown on New Year's Eve in Walsh Gym.

The 45-point victory is Seton Hall's largest ever against a BIG EAST opponent and its 36 points allowed are the fewest ever in conference play.

Seton Hall used a dominant first quarter to pull away from the Hoyas early. The Pirates out-scored Georgetown, 28-8, in the first 10 minutes, shooting 64.3 percent form the floor and forcing eight turnovers to set the tone for the rest of the contest. Four Pirates reached double-figures in scoring, led by Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) who finished with 14 points, four rebounds and a season-high seven steals.

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown enters Thursday's contest with a 12-8 overall record and a 5-6 mark in BIG EAST play. Since last playing Seton Hall in Walsh Gym, the Hoyas have gone 4-3 with victories over Butler, St. John's, Marquette, and most recently, Xavier on Saturday. Georgetown has gotten balanced scoring across its roster with seven players averaging more than 6.0 points per game. Khia Miller leads the team with 11.4 points per game. The Hoyas are the second-best team in the BIG EAST in defending the three-pointer and rebounding margin.
