NEW YORK, N.Y. – Midfielder Nico Rubio (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after scoring the game-winning goal in the Pirates' BIG EAST opener against UConn, the conference announced Tuesday.
Rubio continued his standout season in the BIG EAST opener on the road against the Huskies. With the Pirates already up 1-0, the senior registered his first career goal in the 15th minute to extend The Hall's lead to 2-0 early in the match. His goal proved to be the difference in the match, as the Huskies pulled one goal back before the clock expired to hand the Pirates a 2-1 win.
Rubio joins goalkeeper Devin Armstrong as the only Pirates to receive BIG EAST honors this season.
