
Pirates Drop Overtime Heartbreaker At Xavier

CINCINNATI, OHIO – The Seton Hall men's soccer team (5-10-1, 2-6-0 BIG EAST) dropped a heartbreaker at Xavier (10-4-2, 5-3-0 BIG EAST) by a score of 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night. Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) and Marco Neves (Tracy, Calif.) both scored for the Pirates in the setback.
After a scoreless first half, the two sides combined for four goals in a wild second frame. The Pirates fell down 1-0 in the 58th, but pulled level less than five minutes later with Arcila's team-high eighth goal of the year.
Turning Points
With the contest knotted at 1-1, Seton Hall pulled ahead with a gorgeous goal from Neves in the 85th minute. After forcing a turnover deep in XU territory, Neves beat a defender into the box and snuck a low bouncing shot to the near post past the diving Xavier keeper.
The Hall held its slim lead until the final minutes of regulation, when Xavier struck with 1:52 remaining. The contest went to overtime at 2-2, before XU's Matt Vasquenza struck for the golden goal four minutes into the first extra period.
