Rutkowski Wins, SHU Wins at Stony Brook

Stony Brook , N.Y. – The Pirates had a strong performance this weekend as they finished in first place out four teams at the Wolfie Invitational. Junior Chritiana Rutkowski led the way for the Pirates as she was the women's 5k individual champion, her second of the season.
Rutkowski posted a time of 17:44.68 and finished ahead of four Stony Brook runners. The Pirates had five other runners finish in the Top-10. Freshman Olivia Hernandez finished with a time of 18:39.64 which was good for fifth place.
Upperclassmen Emily Johnson and Kiley Britten finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Johnson had a time of 18:43.07, and Britten crossed the finish line in 18:54.26.
Sophomore Kassandra Yocco finished in eighth place with a time 19:04.84. Freshman Emily Hernandez finished off the Pirates Top-10 runners with a time of 19:06.47 in ninth.
Looking ahead, the Pirates will head to Old Westbury, N.Y. to compete in the NYIT Invitational on September 16.
