LAST WEEKEND
Last weekend, the Pirates fell in a pair of four-set matches on the road. On Friday, The Hall dropped a four set marathon to Xavier, and on Saturday, despite winning the first set, they lost to Butler in Indianapolis.Â
Â
Three Pirates had at least 13 kills, and the Pirates had more digs and a higher attack percentage, but ultimately fell to Xavier, 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 20-25), on Friday. Senior Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) had a match-high 16 kills to go with four blocks. Senior Caitlin Koska (Franklin, Wis.) had a double-double with 14 kills and a career-high 16 digs. Junior Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) matched her career-high with 13 kills, set a career-high with seven digs and notched four blocks.
Â
On Saturday, Thelen recorded a team-high 18 kills, and both Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif.) and Caitlin Koska notched double-doubles, but the Pirates fell at Butler, 3-1 (25-19, 17-25, 21-25, 27-29).Â
Thelen had 18 kills and three blocks. Coffey had a team-high 46 assists to go with 10 digs and two blocks. Koska notched 15 kills and 14 digs for her second straight double-double.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Seton Hall and Providence will meet for the second time this season and 32nd time in history on Friday. The Pirates own a slim 16-15 all-time series lead, including a five-set victory earlier this season at Alumni Hall in Rhode Island.
Â
Abby Thelen recorded a career-high 25 kills, and Cherise Hennigan (Corona, Calif.) added 17 more as the Pirates edged Providence in five sets, 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 15-10), on Oct. 7. Thelen tallied a career-high 25 kills, with nine attack errors, and a .291 attack percentage. She also had three blocks. Hennigan had a season-high 17 kills, while Sophia Coffey notched a double-double with season-highs of 52 assists and 15 digs.
Â
Providence enters the weekend with a 8-15 overall record and a 2-10 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. They are 1-7 on the road this season. The Friars are coming off a weekend when they split a pair of conference matches. On Friday, they shut out DePaul in Chicago before being shut out at Marquette on Saturday.Â
Â
Addison Root leads their team with 3.14 kills per set.
Â
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
Seton Hall and Creighton will meet for the second time this season and 14th time in history. The Bluejays own a 10-3 all-time series lead with the Bluejays having won eight straight matches, including the 2014 BIG EAST Championship Game.Â
Â
Earlier this season, Creighton swept the Pirates in Omaha.  Junior Haylee Gasser tallied 10 kills, but the Pirates fell at No. 10 Creighton, 3-0 (20-25, 21-25, 21-25), on Oct. 5. The Pirates put up a spirited effort against the four-time defending BIG EAST champions, recording at least 20 points in all three sets. Gasser had only two attack errors to go with her team-best 10 kills, and had a team-high .400 attack percentage. Senior Caitlin Koska nearly had a double-double with nine kills and eight digs.
Â
Creighton enters the weekend as the No. 9 ranked team in the country with an impressive 20-4 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. Eight of Creighton's 12 victories have come in three-set sweeps. Last weekend, the Bluejays defeated No. 18 Marquette in Milwaukee in four sets, before sweeping DePaul in Chicago on Saturday.Â
Â
Taryn Kloth leads Creighton with 4.09 kills per set.
