SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – For the fourth time in five seasons, the Seton Hall women's basketball team is postseason bound. The Pirates have received and accepted an at-large bid to the 2018 Postseason WNIT.
The WNIT announced late on Monday night that the Pirates will play host to Saint Joseph's on Wednesday, March 14 at Walsh Gym. Tip time will be announced by the WNIT on Tuesday. Should the Pirates advance, they will face either West Virginia or Bucknell in second round action.
Tickets for the WNIT at Walsh will go on sale Tuesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. and will be available online, by visiting the ticket office or by calling 973-275-HALL (4255). Season ticket holders have until 5 p.m. on Tuesday to secure their same seats by calling the ticket office. Student tickets for the WNIT are $4, while all others are $12. ALL tickets will be available for pickup at will-call one hour prior to the game.
The WNIT bid is the fifth in program history for The Hall and first since 2014. The Pirates also played in the postseason tournament, which began in 1998, in the 2003, 2004 and 2007 seasons. All-time the Pirates are 4-4 in the WNIT, including a run to the third round in 2014.
Seton Hall finished the 2017-18 regular season with a 16-15 record, advancing to the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. The Pirates went 7-11 in the BIG EAST conference to finish seventh in the final league standings.
The WNIT bid marks an unprecedented run of success in Seton Hall history, with the program receiving four postseason berths in a five-year span for the first time since the Pirates began play in the BIG EAST in 1982-83. Under fifth-year head coach Anthony Bozzella, The Hall played in the 2014 WNIT before earning NCAA Tournament bids in 2015 and 2016.
