LAST WEEKEND
Last weekend, Seton Hall split a pair of BIG EAST Conference matches, defeating Providence in a five-set thriller, and falling in three sets to defending champion Creighton. Senior Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) recorded a career-high 23 kills as the Pirates edged Providence, 3-2 (21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 15-13), on Friday for their first BIG EAST win of the season.
Â
Gasser was brilliant, registering 23 kills with only five attack errors and an impressive .383 attack percentage. Classmate Maggie Cvelbar (Euclid, Ohio) notched a double-double with a match-high 42 assists to go with 13 digs. Both Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) and Julia Wilkins (Mason, Ohio) also impressed offensively, recording 12 kills apiece.
Â
Wilkins recorded a match-high 13 kills, but The Hall fell in straight sets to No. 14 Creighton, 3-0 (19-25, 16-25, 12-25), on Saturday. Wilkins had 13 kills, only four attack errors and a team-best .290 attack percentage. Cvelbar registered her sixth double-double in the last seven matches with 21 assists and 10 digs.

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Seton Hall and Georgetown will meet for the 42nd time in history on Wednesday, with the Hoyas owning a, 23-18, lead in the all-time series. Last year, the teams split the home-and-home series with each team sweeping on their home floor. The Pirates have dominated the series in recent years with wins in 15 of their last 20 meetings.Â
Â
Georgetown enters the contest with an 11-7 overall record and a 1-3 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. After starting the season with wins in 11 of their first 15 contests, the Hoyas have lost their last three matches. Most recently, they lost a pair of five-set matches at home against Butler and Xavier last weekend. Most of Georgetown's matches have been at home this season as this will be only their fourth road contest of the year.
Â
Seton Hall and Georgetown have played three common opponents during the non-conference season. Both teams easily defeated Iona, Binghamton and William & Mary this season.
Â
Providence was picked to finish sixth in the 10-team BIG EAST Conference in the preseason coaches' poll.
