
Pirates Fall to Quinnipiac, 3-0

BALTIMORE, MD. – Senior Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) tallied a match-high 11 kills, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell in three sets to Quinnipiac, 3-0 (119-25, 18-25, 21-25), in its second match of the Morgan State Invitational on Saturday.
SET 1:
A kill by Reagan Hopp (Carmel, Ind.) gave The Hall a 10-9 lead in set one, but Quinnipiac responded by scoring five of the next six points to take a 14-11 advantage. The Bobcat lead grew to as many as six points, 20-14, and the Pirates never got closer than a five-point deficit in a 25-19 first set win.
SET 2:
Seton Hall dominated much of the early portions of the second set, but Quinnpiac bounced back late to take control. Another kill by Hopp gave The Hall a 15-12 advantage, but the Bobcats went on a 5-1 run to take a 17-16 lead and force a Pirates' timeout. A kill by Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) tied the set at 17, but Quinnipiac finished the set on a 6-1 run to win, 25-18.
SET 3:
The final set was the closest of the match, but the Pirates still couldn't top the Bobcats. A kill by freshman Reece Koehler (Stillwater, Minn.) put The Hall in front 8-7, but despite keeping the set close, the Pirates never led again as Quinnipiac scored the next three points. Seton Hall cut Quinnipiac's lead to one point on seven occasions, but couldn't find the equalizer. A kill by Gasser cut the Bobcat lead to 20-19, but Quinnipiac closed the match with five of the next seven points.
