Braccio Finishes First as Pirates Win NYIT Invitational

Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Seton Hall women's cross country team took first place out of 17 teams in the NYIT Invitational on Saturday.
Freshman Arianna Braccio (Nashua, N.H.) took first place for the Pirates on the women's side with a time of 19:36.88. The victory is the first for Braccio in her collegiate career and the first for the Pirates this season. Braccio also garnered a top-10 finish last time the Pirates ran when she placed sixth at the Stony Brook Invitational.
The Pirates had an impressive showing with seven of the top-10 runners representing The Hall. Along with Braccio finishing first, Kassi Yocco (Bethlehem, Pa.) took third with Emma Newgarden (Staten Island, N.Y.) finishing fourth. Filling up spots six through eight was Gaby Vega (Easton, Pa.), Olivia Hernandez (East Brunswick, N.J.) and Emily Hernandez (East Brunswick, N.J.) while Cristina Fernandez (Parsippany, N.J.) took 10th to round out the Pirates in the top-10.
The Pirates will be back in action on Sept. 21 when they run in the Monmouth Invitational in West Long Branch, N.J.
