LAST GAME
Five Pirates scored in double-figures and the Pirates outscored Providence, 24-6, in a game-defining third quarter, in route to a 71-45 victory on Friday. The win is Seton Hall's ninth of the season in conference play, and guarantees at least a .500 mark in BIG EAST play.
Â
Senior Barbara Johnson (Toronto, Canada) and junior Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) tied for the team lead with 12 points apiece. Senior Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) had 11 points, while freshman Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) and sophomore Alexia Allesch (Basking Ridge, N.J.) added 10 apiece.
Â
Ahead 36-28 early in the third quarter, The Hall scored seven straight, and a jumper by Elmore put it on top, 43-28, with 6:55 left in the period.
Â
Seton Hall went on to score the final 14 points of the third quarter, and ran the run to 16 unanswered early in the fourth quarter to build a 58-30 advantage early in the final period. Providence never got closer than a 26-point deficit the rest of the way.

LAST TIME AGAINST CREIGHTON
Seton Hall began the game with a 19-2 run and five Pirates scored in double-figures as it defeated Creighton, 82-70, on Kids Day at a sold-out Walsh Gymnasium on Jan. 19.
Â
The Pirates shot a blistering 61.1% from the floor in the first quarter, which included 7-for-10 shooting from three-point range, in a game they never trailed.
Â
Senior Alexis Lewis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) played all 40 minutes for the Pirates, leading the team with 18 points on an efficient 8-for-12 shooting from the field. She also grabbed seven rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded three steals. Freshman Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) had the best game of her young career, tallying a career-high 15 points to go with four assists and just one turnover at the point guard position.Â
Â
Seton Hall led the game wire-to-wire charging out of the gates on fire from long-distance. The Pirates connected on their first six three-pointers and a trifecta by Samuels gave them a commanding 22-4 lead to begin the game. In the second quarter, the Pirate lead grew to as many as 24, before The Hall took a 48-27 lead into halftime.
Â
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
The Bluejays are coming off a 15-16 season, which included an 8-10 mark in BIG EAST play. They upset third-seeded Butler in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament, but fell to the eventual champions, DePaul, in the semis to complete their season.
Â
Since falling at Seton Hall on Jan. 17, Creighton has won just three of its last seven games, alternating wins and losses. Last weekend, the Bluejays defeated their travel partner, Providence, on the road, 77-68. Most recently, Creighton fell to St. John's, 77-70, on Friday.
Â
Senior Jaylyn Agnew has emerged as one of the top players in the BIG EAST and ranks second in the conference with 19.3 points per game. Temi Carda, Tatum Rembao and Olivia Elger are also averaging in double-figures in scoring.
Â
UP NEXT
Seton Hall will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 22 when it makes the short trip to Queens, N.Y. for a BIG EAST battle at St. John's. Tip-time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET. The game will be a BIG EAST Digital Network broadcast, and as usual, 89.FM WSOU will bring you all the action over the radio waves.
