Â
Turner finished with nine kills, only one attack error, and a .364 attack percentage, while Ilieva had nine kills, two attack errors, and three digs. Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) missed the team lead by only one kill, finishing with eight.

Â
SET 1:
The opening set was close throughout with the teams tying 14 times. Trailing 15-14, a kill by Emilee Turner (Kaysville, Utah) tied the score and then a block by Madison Frusha (Huntsville, Texas) and Ilieva gave The Hall the lead. Down 18-16, Marquette went on a set-changing 8-0 run to enter set point, 24-18. The Hall staved off three set points, but ultimately fell, 25-21. Â
Â
SET 2:
Down 10-6, the Pirates scored four straight, and a kill by Lucas tied the set and forced a Marquette timeout. Trailing 15-14, The Hall went on another four-point burst to grab an 18-15 advantage. The Golden Eagles, however, responded with four straight of their own to reclaim the lead, 19-18. With the score tied at 20, back-to-back kills by Frusha and Madeline Matheny (Wilmington, Del.) gave the Pirates the lead for good. Up 23-22, a Marquette service error put The Hall in set point, and a kill by Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) won it for the Pirates. The Pirates' set two win snapped a 10-set losing streak to Marquette.
Â
SET 3:
Marquette took control of the third set at the start, scoring 15 of the first 20 points and forcing the Pirates to spend both of their timeouts early. The Hall played relatively evenly with the Golden Eagles the rest of the set, but couldn't overcome the early deficit and fell, 25-12. Marquette had an impressive .421 attack percentage in the third set, compared to .162 for the Pirates.
Â
SET 4:
A kill by Matheny cut The Hall's deficit to 10-8 early in the fourth set, but Marquette bounced back with six of the next eight points to take a 16-10 advantage. Down 19-14, the Pirates scored three straight to cut their deficit to two points, and force a Marquette timeout. The Golden Eagles, however, regrouped and didn't allow The Hall to get closer. Marquette held The Hall to only a .057 attack percentage in the final set in a 25-19 win.
