
Pirates Drop Contest at No. 21 Creighton

OMAHA, NEB. – The Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell to No. 21 Creighton, 3-0 (16-25, 13-25, 8-25), at DJ Sokol Arena on Friday.

Sophomore Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) led The Hall with five kills and only two attack errors. Defensively, freshman Anna Holland (Waukesha, Wis.) had a team-best 13 digs.

SET 1:
The Pirates never led in in the opening set as Creighton scored five of the first seven points. A kill by Lucas cut The Hall's deficit to 14-11, but the Bluejays responded with a 7-2 run to take a commanding 21-13 advantage. Down 23-14, a block by Madison Frusha (Huntsville, Texas) and Tsvetelina Ilieva (Sofia, Bulgaria), followed by an Ilieva service ace, cut the Creighton lead to 23-16. But the Bluejays bounced back with the final two points to win, 25-16.

Creighton continued its pressure in the second set.  A Bluejays attack error pulled The Hall to within 13-9, but Creighton responded with a 10-2 run to grab a commanding 23-11 advantage. The Pirates again scored twice late, and a kill by Lucas cut their deficit to 23-13, but the Bluejays found the final two points, and won, 25-13.

The Bluejays scored the first eight points of the final set to set the tone early in set three. The Pirates had a -.083 attack percentage in the final set, compared to .333 for Creighton. The Bluejays went on to a 25-8 third-set victory.

Seton Hall will wrap up the 2021 season on Sunday when it travels to Providence. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be available for subscribers of FloSports.
