Pex Scores Twice, Pirates Draw at NJIT
2/17/2021 6:19:00 PM | Men's Soccer
The home team got on the board first as Jose Adames found Sergio Pita in the box to put the Highlanders ahead early. The Pirates, however, were able to knot things up on a Johannes Pex (Stephansposching, Germany) goal in the 23rd minute with an assist from Camil Koreichi (Paris, France). Pex was able to control a rebound on a Koreichi shot that hit the post before blasting a shot just under the crossbar for the Pirates first goal of the season.
In the final minutes of the first half, Pex found the back of the net for the second time to put the Pirates up before the break, 2-1. CJ Tibbling (Jarna, Sweden) flicked the ball to Pex after a Raz Amir (Israel) cross into the box.
Zach Halma tied things up for Highlanders halfway through the second period of play. From just outside the box, Halma put away the equalizer off an assist from Regsan Watkins. NJIT and Rene White were able to take the lead late in the second half off of a Seton Hall turnover to go up on the scoreboard, 3-2.
Turning Point
Two minutes after NJIT was able to grab a late lead, Tibbling scored the equalizer to knot things up at 3. The junior dribbled through a few Highlander defenders before finishing with a left-footed shot just past the NJIT goalkeeper.
