
Habib Takes First as Pirates Win at Bill Fritz Invitational

Logan Township, N.J. – Led by a first-place overall individual finish by Nancy Habib (Clifton, N.J.), the Seton Hall women's cross country team took first at the 2021 Bill Fritz Invitational hosted by Rowan University on Saturday.
For the second meet in a row, Habib led the Pirates finishing with a time of 23:45.5. Following Habib was the freshman duo of Julia Smith (Pittsgrove, N.J.) and Taj Lanier (Lincoln University, Pa.) with second and third-place finishes, respectively. Smith finished in a time of 24:16.0 while Lanier took third in 24:23.4. Arianna Braccio (Nashua, N.H.) took fourth for The Hall doing so in a time of 25:11.1.
The Pirates were able to capture seven of the top 10 finishing times with Abigail Hughes (Staten Island, N.Y.) in sixth, Amanda Houston (Randolph, N.J.) in eighth and Olivia Hernandez (East Brunswick, N.J.) in ninth. Also competing for The Hall was Kate Cochran (Sewell, N.J.), Amelia Carson (Charleston, S.C. ), Emily Hernandez (East Brunswick, N.J.), Lauren Ginefra (Budd Lake, N.J.), Brianna Peiffer (Missouri City, Texas), Rica Ongsiako (Matawan, N.J.), Danielle Becker (Manalapan, N.J.) and Meghan Vizzard (Mt. Laurel, N.J.).
The Pirates will have a week off before traveling down to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take part in the Embry Riddle Cross Country Classic on Sept. 25.
