NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Hannes Ronnholmen (Stockholm, Sweden) and Liam Guske (St. John's, Fla.) each received BIG EAST weekly honors, the conference announced Monday. Ronnholmen earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors, while Guske was named Freshman of the Week.
Ronnholmen picked up a pair of shutouts this past week as the Pirates played DePaul to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday before beating UConn on the road, 1-0, on Saturday. Ronnholmen made a pair of saves against DePaul, including a diving save in the 88th minute to preserve the point for the Pirates. The senior would then make three saves on Saturday en route to the Pirates' win over UConn to propel them into a tie atop the BIG EAST standings. Ronnholmen's five shutouts on the season are tied for the third most in program history, while his 0.90 goals allowed average currently is the third best in a season in Pirate history.
Guske earns his first BIG EAST weekly honor of the season. The freshman was a key cog in the defensive machine that helped limit DePaul and UConn to just five shots on goal across the two matches. Guske played all 90 minutes in both matches and has now done so in nine of his 10 appearances so far this season.
The Pirates head back to the pitch on Wednesday night as they travel to Milwaukee to face Marquette at 8 p.m.
