South Orange, N.J. – The Pirates picked up another point in BIG EAST play on Wednesday night, finishing in a 0-0 draw against DePaul at Owen T. Carroll Field. The Pirates had no shortage in chances, as they outshot the Blue Demons 20-6 on the night.
How it Happened
Seton Hall had several great looks at goal throughout the night, but were unable to get one past DePaul goalkeeper Gandhi Cruz. The Pirates had 10 shots in both halves, but their first shot on goal of the game came in the 41st minute. Quenzi Huerman (Vannes, France) had his shot ricochet back towards him after it was blocked by a defender. Huerman found Andrea Borg (Sliema, Malta) inside the six-yard box, who turned and fired with his right foot directly into the arms of Cruz.
After the two sides jostled for possession to start the second half, the Pirates tilted the pitch back in their favor. Numerous chances were generated by the Pirate attackers, including a header from Mattias Almeida Sundell (Sweden) in the 60th minute that trickled just wide of the post.
Both sides had golden opportinitues late. After a Pirate corner kick, Paavo Riihijarvi (Oulu, Finland) headed a ball that was ticketed for the back of the net, but Cruz reached up to punch it away. Just a few minutes later, DePaul's Jake Fuderer took a pass in stride and had a solid look at goal, but his shot was stopped by a diving Hannes Ronnholmen (Stockholm, Sweden).
