
Wakefield Joins Women's Soccer Coaching Staff

South Orange, N.J. - Head coach Ciara Crinion announced Wednesday that Christina Wakefield has joined the Seton Hall women's soccer program as assistant coach.Â
Wakefield comes to South Orange after serving for two seasons as a graduate assistant at Auburn. The Tigers went 22-11-4 and reached the 2021 NCAA Tournament in her two seasons on staff.
Prior to Auburn, Wakefield was the assistant coach for the Gettysburg women's soccer team in Pennsylvania for two seasons. She helped get them to the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2019. Also at Gettysburg, she was the men's and women's assistant tennis coach and a certified strength and conditioning coach for all teams.Â
Wakefield had a standout collegiate soccer at Boston University and attributed to two NCAA Tournament appearances, two Patriot League Conference Titles and was named to the All-Patriot League First Team in 2017. Wakefield coached and played for the Stars of Massachusetts soccer club and is a native of Boston, Mass.
Wakefield joins a coaching staff and program that has been building positive momentum for the last two seasons. This past calendar year, Seton Hall beat Villanova (Sept. 23, 2021) for the first time since 2013 and St. John's (March 25, 20201) for the first time since 2010. Seton Hall's win at Villanova was also its first BIG EAST road win since 2011. The Fall season of 2021 marked the Pirates' most victories in a season since 2012.
