WASHINGTON – The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon at Georgetown, battling hard in a 175-124 loss to the Hoyas.
Much as she has done all season long, Silvia Alessio (Trieste, Italy) took home victories in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. The graduate posted a total score of 285.38 in the 1-meter to claim the win, while her score of 309.75 in the 3-meter was also enough for first place. In both events, Laura Stavila (Oakland, Calif.) nabbed a second-place finish with scores of 262.88 and 264.30, respectively.
Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.) and Allie Waggoner (Moorestown, N.J.) would also pick up individual victories on the afternoon. Heim's first place finish came in the 200 Free, touching the wall with a time of 1:53.92. Waggoner swam the fastest in the 1000 Free, posting a first-place time of 10:24.39. Both also picked up second-place finishes on the day, with Heim doing so in the 100 Free and the 400 Free Relay, while Waggoner took the runner-up spot in the 500 Free.
The Pirates were also able to capture the victory in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Isabella Defonte (Long Beach, N.Y.), Meredith Mutter (Pottstown, Pa.), Sarah Frie (Waterford, Va.) and Carys Graville (Cardiff, Great Britain) combined for a time of 1:52.00.
The Pirates will now begin preparations for the BIG EAST Championships which will take place Feb. 28-March 2 at IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
