No. 15 Pirates Meet No. 24 UConn in Ranked BIG EAST Clash

South Orange, N.J. - The No. 15 ranked Seton Hall men's soccer looks to claim its first win in BIG EAST play when the team travels to Storrs, Connecticut, on Saturday to face No. 24 UConn in Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at Rizza Performance Center. This will be the Pirates' first matchup against a ranked opponent this season. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

This is the 36th all-time meeting between the two teams, the most recent of which being a 4-2 Seton Hall win at Owen T. Carroll Field last season.

SERIES HISTORY

Seton Hall and UConn last competed on September 23, 2023, in an early-season affair. In the first 20 minutes, the Pirates rushed out to a 2-0 lead off the back of a 13^th minute goal from Hugo Gerbore, and a 17^th minute goal from Rikard Cederberg. In the 63^rd minute, Cederberg added his second goal off the game. Two UConn goals followed soon after before James Boote shut the door on the Huskies with a penalty kick goal in the 89^th minute. As a result, Boote finished the game with one goal, two assists and secured the 4-2 win for the Pirates.
This is the 36^th matchup between the two programs, the first of which came in 1987.
Seton Hall is 16-15-4 all-time against UConn, with a 3-1-1 record in their last five meetings.

PIRATES REBOUND ON MILESTONE NIGHT VS LEHIGH

On Tuesday, Lehigh visited Seton Hall at Owen T. Carroll Field for the Pirates' penultimate game of non-conference play. The Pirates won the match 2-0.
With the victory, Head Coach Andreas Lindberg earned the 50^th win of his Seton Hall tenure.
In the 53^rd minute, Jack Kossoudji drove to the endline before sending a pass that Hugo Gerbore buried in the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
In the 73^rd minute, Rikard Cederberg scored his first goal of the season off a chaotic corner kick that saw Axel Berglund and Til Kauschke register assists.
Seton Hall goalkeeper Soren Jensen registered his second clean sheet of the season.
The Pirates registered their fifth multi-goal game of the season, all of which are victories.
Seton Hall is now 3-3-0 all-time against Lehigh.

Seton Hall is ranked No. 15 in the nation in the Sept. 24 United Soccer Coaches top-25, down seven spots from their ranking a week prior. Their prior ranking is the highest they have held during a non-abbreviated season since the 2002 season when they received the No. 6 spot in the September 2, 2002 poll.
In Head Coach Andreas Lindberg's tenure, Seton Hall appeared in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 seven times during the 2020 season, reaching as high as No. 6. Then Seton Hall spent four weeks in the national rankings during 2021.
The Pirates are one of three BIG EAST teams in the current top-25, joining No. 18 Providence and No. 24 UConn.
