Pirates Prepare for Crucial Match at St. John's

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall men's soccer (6-2-6, 2-0-3 BIG EAST) will look continue its undefeated run in BIG EAST play when they travel to Queens, N.Y. to take on the St. John's Red Storm (7-4-3, 2-2-1 BIG EAST) at Belson Stadium in a match with immense BIG EAST tournament implications.

Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT

On Tuesday, the Pirates closed out non-conference play against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at the Ulrich Soccer Complex.

The Pirates collected a pair of first-half goals from Sam Bjork and Pyry Lampinen, while outshooting the opposition 8-3, giving the Pirates a 2-0 lead at halftime. With five goals against Lehigh, Seton Hall has recorded multiple 5+ goal games in a season for the first time since 2007.
With 26 goals this season, the Pirates have surpassed their tally from last season and tied their season-end mark from the 2023 season.

SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S

St. John's is 7-4-3 on the season, with a 2-2-1 record in BIG EAST play after defeating Monmouth 1-0 in non-conference play on Tuesday.
The Red Storm currently sits in fifth place in the East Division on seven points, logging wins over Akron (2-1), Providence (3-2), and drawing Xavier (1-1).
Both of St. John's BIG EAST wins, as well as their draw, came off a goal they scored in the final six minutes of the match.
This season, St. John's has been led offensively by star freshman Guilhereme Gomes. The Brazilian midfielder has tallied six goals through 14 games, including two game-winners against Providence and Monmouth. Behind Gomes, the Red Storm's offense is a collective force. While only two other players have scored at least two goals, 14 total players have scored a goal or logged an assist.
In net for the Red Storm, in his third year as the starting netminder, is Alec McLachlan. In his twelve starts this season, McLachlan has a 0.98 GAA, .694 save percentage and a 5-3-3 record. In conference, play however, the senior's stats inflate to 1.400 GAA and a .667 save percentage.

This will be the 49th all-time matchup against St. John's.
The Pirates hold a 15-28-5 record against the Red Storm with a 5-15-4 record at the Johnnies.
