SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Off the back of stellar play in net and in the field, Seton Hall men's soccer (4-2-4, 2-0-1 BIG EAST) drew #14 Georgetown (6-2-3, 2-0-1 BIG EAST), 0-0, at Owen T. Carroll Field Friday night.
In a high-stakes match atop the East Division, the Pirates and Hoyas traded momentum in the first half despite the game remaining scoreless at the break. The Hoyas turned up the heat in the second half, launching eight shots as the Pirates struggled to even possess the ball for long enough to find an offensive opportunity. Seton Hall's signature defense held firm, however, and the Pirates came away with a 0-0 draw against a nationally-ranked Georgetown side.
With the draw, The Hall moves to 4-2-4 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
With massive BIG EAST Tournament implications flying around this match, the two sides spent a majority of the opening half searching for a way through the opposing team's staunch defense. After 30 minutes, each side logged two shots on goal, with Nico Rubio's bending shot in the 23rd minute serving as The Hall's best chance.
As the half began to wind down, both sides went to their benches looking to find something to focus on during the halftime break. Neither team managed to break the truce, however, only generating one total shot, as the two sides entered the break scoreless.
With only ten minutes left to play, both teams became desperate. As the clock ticked down, substitutions occurred, three yellow cards were assigned, and Georgetown was dealt a red card in the waning minutes of the match. Neither side could break the stalemate, however, ending the match in a 0-0 draw.
