SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall men's soccer fell to Princeton 3-1 in its return to non-conference play at Owen T. Carroll Field on Tuesday night.
Both teams were mired in a scoreless first half before Princeton put a ball past the Pirates mere minutes before the halftime break. After receiving a red card, the Pirates evened things up in the early second half off an Aidan Tisony goal. The Tigers quickly responded with two goals, dashing any comeback hopes and handing the Pirates a 3-1 defeat.
With the loss, The Hall moves to 3-2-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
As this New Jersey clash began, the Pirates found themselves on the back foot early. Despite recording the first shot, the Pirates were quickly met by a torrent of Tiger shots, forcing a pair of saves out of Matias Molina. In the ensuing counterattack, The Hall forced a pair of saves from Princeton's keeper, leaving the game still scoreless. With three minutes remaining before halftime, however, the Tigers scored the opening goal of the match after the visitors collected a throw-in and sent it careening to the far post. Now down 1-0 entering the break, the Pirates needed to regroup to find a response.
Coming out of the break, the Pirates' offense pressed heavily for an equalizer. After four corner kicks in the opening five minutes, Mikkel Lejbowicz forced the Tigers to make another save. However, the momentum would turn away from the Pirates in the 61st minute. After a poorly played ball presented an opportunity for Princeton to score, Konstantin Donalies attempted a tackle that took down the Tigers' attacking player just outside the box. After video review, the German defender was shown a red card and the Pirates were forced to play with ten men for the remainder of the match.
Even after drawing the game even, the Pirates' defense remained taxed by Princeton's vaunted attack. Not long, after a Princeton goal in the 66th minute, alongside one in the 78th minute, put the game out of reach and handed the Pirates a 3-1 loss.

Despite the deficit on the scoreboard and the field, the Pirates continued to fight back. After drawing a corner kick in the 64th minute, midfielder Axel Berglund laced a ball into a crowded goal area. After glancing off of Agustin Resch's head, Aidan Tisony topped the ball into the net to tie the game at 1-1.Chaos? Chaos!#HALLin🔵⚪️⚽️ pic.twitter.com/VQVSAy35SN
