MILWAUKEE, WIS. – In their first BIG EAST road match of the season, Seton Hall men's soccer (4-2-3, 2-0-0 BIG EAST) knocked off Marquette (4-2-2, 0-2-0 BIG EAST) 2-0 at Valley Fields on Saturday night.
While both teams spent the majority of the first half looking for the opening score, Aidan Tisony broke the stalemate minutes before halftime to put the Pirates up 1-0. In the 53rd minute, Hugo Gerbore laced a ball past in the bottom corner to double the Pirates' lead and make the gap insurmountable. Seton Hall's defense shut the door in the remaining minutes, securing the 2-0 victory.
With the win, The Hall moves to 4-2-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the Pirates' second road bout of the season, the team came out looking to rebound from a home loss to Princeton earlier in the week. The Hall launched a pair of shots in the first 12 minutes, including a dangerous header from Augustin Resch, but Marquette's Simpson saved them both. Marquette quickly responded with their own chance in the 16th minute, but an offside flag waived off the would-be Golden Eagles goal.
As the two teams sat mired in a battle for possession, a Marquette foul led to a free kick from just over the midway line for the Pirates. Off the dead ball, senior midfielder Axel Berglund rifled the kick into the penalty box. The ball never touched the ground, as subsequent headers from Resch and Joseph Min sent the ball to Aidan Tisony, who sent the ball past the Golden Eagles' keeper to secure a 1-0 lead for the Pirates heading into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Seton Hall was not settling for a one-goal lead. After dispossessing the ball from a Marquette player, Mikkel Lejbowicz pushed the ball into the attacking third amid a backpedaling Golden Eagles defense. With the opposition frazzled, the sophomore laid the ball off for Hugo Gerbore, who slid the ball into the bottom corner to double the Pirates' lead, 2-0, in the 53rd minute.🚨 BREAKING: Ocean Twp. man finds goals in back-to-back games 🏴☠️#HALLin🔵⚪️⚽️ pic.twitter.com/HfoDidluo6

As the Pirates began to salt the clock away, Marquette continued to challenge The Hall's vaunted defense. Despite the opposition logging many shots, Matias Molina did not make his first save of the night until the 79th minute on a ball sent into the far corner. The Argentinian would make one more save on the night in the 85th minute as The Hall secured the 2-0 victory.Even goals look cooler in French 🇫🇷x🏴☠️#HALLin🔵⚪️⚽️ pic.twitter.com/2J1aKrq6Lr
