Serafin, McDonald Lead Men's Soccer Past Syracuse, 3-0

Seton Hall improves to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in BIG EAST play. Syracuse falls to 5-4-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the conference.
Serafin, who scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over California last Sunday, put the Pirates ahead at the 23:22 mark when he beat Syracuse goalkeeper Kevin Bacher with a drive to the upper left corner from 16 yards.
Seton Hall increased its lead to 2-0 when junior forward Greg Strohmann (Wehrheim, Germany) headed in a free kick by sophomore sweeper Torsten Knor (Moenchengladbach, Germany) at 31:48.
Sophomore midfielder Vin Scerbo (Succasunna, NJ/Morris Catholic) netted the third Pirate goal at 68:50 when he scored on a shot to the upper right corner off an assist from sophomore forward Phil Swenda (Downingtown, PA).
McDonald preserved his second shutout of the season when he saved a penalty kick by Syracuse forward Mario Cristofori at the 75:52 mark. Kevin Bacher made three saves for the Orangemen.
Seton Hall returns to action on Wednesday, October 11, when it travels to Princeton, New Jersey for a 7:30 p.m. game against Princeton University.
