Lamb And Shanko Earn Big East Softball Honors

The awards followed a solid 5-1 week for the Pirates, who now stand at 6-6 after sweeps of Rider and Fordham and a doubleheader split with LaSalle.
Lamb hit .667 (10-for-15) in the six games, while driving in six runs, scoring four and hitting two doubles and a home run. She was 3-for-3 with two doubles in a 3-2 win over Fordham on March 25 and was 2-for-2 with a three-run homer in a 6-4 loss to LaSalle on March 26. Lamb shared the award with Notre Dame?s Melanie Alkire.
Shanko was superb for the Pirates in three starts and two relief appearances. She won all three of her starts with complete games and picked up a save. For the week, she threw 25.1 innings, striking out 40 against only five walks and allowing just two earned runs. She was 3-0 with a save and a 0.55 ERA.
The Pirates will travel to Lafayette College for a 3:00 pm doubleheader on Tuesday, March 28.
