Pirates Fall to Rutgers in Second Leg of Season Series
4/22/2026 5:02:00 PM | Softball
How It Happened
In this road clash, the Pirates quickly found themselves in a deep hole after Rutgers came out swinging. A three-run first inning by the Scarlet Knights, which included a two-run home run, bled into a four-run second to put The Hall down 7-0.
The bigger issue for the Pirates, however, was that they could not find any recourse at the plate. Through four innings, Seton Hall had not managed a single baserunner.
The opposition only grew stronger when Rutgers added another three runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 10-0 game. Naya Martinez would break up the perfect game with a walk in the fifth inning, but the Pirates could not muster a rally and fell 10-0 in five innings.
News & Notes
- With the loss, the Pirates move to 18-26 on the season and 6-15 in BIG EAST play.
- The Hall moves to 22-47 against Rutgers all-time.
