Chris Churchill gave the Panthers an early 1-0 lead off a corner kick at 8:20, and then Pittsburgh increased the lead at 18:14 when Ben Garry headed in a ball past Pirate keeper Alex McDonald.
Seton Hall answered with two goals in a span of 35 seconds. Greg Strohmann got a second chance goal off a Pittsburgh defender's deflection at 29:12, while Phil Swenda followed with a goal at 29:47. Seton Hall took the lead at 39:44 when Brian Cuddy scored on a direct kick, giving the Pirates a 3-2 edge at halftime.
Pittsburgh scored consecutive goals in a 12-second span. At 60:04, Miles Dowiak tied the game, then stole the ensuing kickoff and fed the ball to Chad Porter, who scored the eventual gamewinner at 60:16.
Seton Hall travels to the Stanford Invitational next weekend to face Stanford and California.
