PIRATES SAIL INTO MORRONE STADIUM
Seton Hall is returning to Morrone Stadium to face Connecticut for the first time since 2003. That season the teams tied, 0-0. The Pirates hold a 12-8-3 advantage in the all-time series and have gone 3-0-2 versus the Huskies in the last five meetings. SHU is just 2-4-1 at Morrone under Manfred Schellscheidt and hasn’t won there since Oct. 25, 1998.
DID YOU KNOW: The last loss SHU had at UConn was 4-0 on Sept. 10, 2000. Cesar Cuellar had three goals for the Huskies, marking the last time SHU gave up a hat-trick.
PIRATES KEEP A STREAK ALIVE AGAINST IVY TEAMS
The Pirates’ 1-1 draw at Penn on Tuesday extended Seton Hall’s unbeaten streak against Ivy League schools to seven games (5-0-2). The last SHU loss to an Ivy League school was a 1-0 loss at Penn in the 2002 NCAA Tournament. The Pirates will put the streak on the line at Princeton on Tuesday, Oct. 10. SHU hasn’t lost to Princeton since the 2001 season.
SETON HALL PLAYING FROM BEHIND
Seton Hall opponents have scored the first goal in each of the last four matches. The Pirates have posted a 1-2-1 mark during the span, with the win coming in overtime at Georgetown, 2-1. Before that win SHU had lost five straight when its opponent scored first. Dating back to 2004 the Pirates have gone just 4-13-5 when their opponents score the first goal.
DID YOU KNOW: Seton Hall’s come-from-behind win at Georgetown was the first time SHU rallied for a win since defeating Princeton 3-1 on Oct. 18, 2005.
SETON HALL PLAYING WITH A LEAD
The Pirates are a perfect 6-0-0 this season when scoring first and have an almost impeccable 28-2-3 mark dating back to 2004 when notching the first goal. In 2005, SHU was an impressive 10-1-2 after scoring first. Each of SHU’s three losses have come after the opponent scores first, but that trend was bucked with a 2-1 win at Georgetown after SHU rallied for the win.
PIRATES SAIL SMOOTHLY IN UNFRIENDLY WATERS
Seton Hall is off to a 3-1-0 start on the road in league play this season. The Pirates are battling recent history, as they hold just a 8-14-4 on the road in conference play since 2002 but have clinched at least a .500 road record for the first time since 2001 when they went 3-1-1 on the road in BIG EAST play.
DID YOU KNOW: The win over Rutgers snapped a four-game winless streak (0-3-1) in road openers dating back to 2001.
