
Men's Soccer Falls To St. John's, 1-0

QUEENS, N.Y. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at St. John's on Thursday night. The Pirates (2-3-0) return to the field on Monday at home against Princeton, starting at 7:00 p.m.
The Red Storm (2-2-1) picked up the game's only score in the 38th minute. Adam Himeno found the back of the net off a pass from Joel Gustafsson to give St. John's the lead that they would protect the remainder of the way.
Neal Kitson picked up the shutout win in goal for the Red Storm while making four saves. Seton Hall's Paul McHenry (Ephrata, Pa.) had five saves in a losing effort.
St. John's held a 12-10 shot advantage for the game and a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. The Red Storm also had six corner kicks to the Pirates' two.
The St. John's defense was tough down the stretch as Seton Hall managed just one shot in the game's final 17 minutes. Kitson made a save on SHU's Carlos Salazar (Kearny, N.J.) in the 81st minute to preserve the shutout.
Andrew Welker (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) had a team-high three shots for the Pirates, including two on goal. Eliseo Giusfredi (Paterson, N.J.) and Kevin Kelly (Whitestone, N.Y.) had two shots each. Alexandre Ivo of St. John's had a game-high four shots, three of which were saved by McHenry.
