SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. Brayan Martinez (West Orange, N.J.) has been named to the 2007 All-Freshmen First Team by Soccer America.
The honor is the latest in a string of accolades for Martinez, who was the 2006-07 Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year, the 2007 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, and a Third Team All-BIG EAST selection.
Martinez played and started in 16 of Seton Hall’s 18 games in 2007. Second on the team in scoring, the rookie midfielder tallied four goals and four assists for 12 points, including the game-winning tally in a 2-1 victory at Pittsburgh on Oct. 13. He recorded a two-goal, two-assist effort in SHU’s 4-1 win over Marquette on Oct. 6. Martinez ended the BIG EAST regular season tied for fourth in goals scored with four and tied for eighth in points with 10.
