LAS VEGAS, Nev. The Seton Hall softball team finished up play at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic with an 11-1 loss to UNLV. The Pirates wrapped up the trip with a 1-5 record.

Freshman Ashley Forsyth (Freehold, N.J.) retired the first two batters, but walked the next hitter and allowed three straight hits, giving the Rebels a 2-0 lead after one inning.

UNLV committed two errors in the second, helping the Pirates load the bases with nobody out. Senior Christa Leighton (Brewster, N.Y.) grounded out to second but was able to get Seton Hall’s first run on the board, but that was all the Pirates could muster in that inning.

Once again, Forsyth sent down the first two batters in the bottom of the second but allowed four runs to make it 6-1heading into the third inning, and Seton Hall never recovered.

Forsyth is 1-2 on the season, and junior Amanda Winn (Manahawkin, N.J.) went 2-for-3 and scored the lone run of the game.

Seton Hall will take on Elon University and Ohio University at the Golden Corral Classic on March 1.
