
Softball Falters Against Fordham

The Rams had three consecutive hits off starting pitcher Kim Schweitzer (
Seton Hall squandered an opportunity to add some insurance runs, leaving the bases loaded in the third, and Fordham took advantage in the bottom half of the frame. Allison Twarowski hit a solo shot, and Mary Beth Puccio hit an RBI single up the middle to give the Rams a 2-1 edge.
In the bottom of the fourth, Erin Fisher took Schweitzer deep for a two-run homer to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Pirates loaded the bases again in the sixth after junior Amanda Winn (
Seton Hall had one last chance to rally in the seventh when Best earned a walk and Waldron notched her second hit of the game. The runners moved to second and third on a ground out by Winn, but the Pirates failed to bring any scores.
Schweitzer (3-6) hurled six innings, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits. Waldron was the only player with multiple hits.
In game two, Fordham sent 10 batters to the plate and capitalized on three Seton Hall errors in the second inning to score six runs.
