Once in front, DePaul packed in its defense, often having nine men in defensive positioning. The Pirates controlled the ball for much of the game, outshooting DePaul 21-8, but only four Hall attempts made it on goal as the Blue Demon defenders effectively blocked with their bodies.
The Pirates’ best chance came midway through the second half when senior Carlos Salazar (Kearny, N.J.) worked a pretty give-and-go with sophomore Samuel Petrone (Glen Rock, N.J.). But Salazar’s attempt went just wide and the Hall remained scoreless.
