Forsyth is majoring in Secondary Education with an emphasis on Fine Arts and a minor in Psychology. She is preparing for a career as a high school art teacher, a coach, and a community arts coordinator. Named a team captain this season, Forsyth is coming off an 11-win season with a 2.54 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 149 innings.
Congress established the Truman competition in 1977 to encourage the development of future change agents who are dedicated to careers in public service. More than 600 juniors are nominated for the competition every year, seeking to be among the 60 Truman Scholars who win up to $30,000 to pursue their graduate studies. Because universities are only allowed four Truman candidates each year, applicants must interview before an on campus Truman Committee.
