NOTRE DAME, Ind. - A pair of second half goals gave Notre Dame a 2-1 comeback win over Seton Hall on Friday night. The Pirates (4-5-1, 1-3-1) are back in action at home on Wednesday night against Georgetown at 7:00 p.m.
The Hall got on the board first when junior Brayan Martinez (West Orange, N.J.) registered his first goal of the season with a shot from the top of the box, 30 yards out, in the 19th minute. Senior keeper Paul McHenry (Ephrata, Pa.) saved the only attempt the Fighting Irish (5-4-1, 3-2-0) put on goal in the opening stanza, and the Pirates carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
After a yellow card on the Hall in the 51st minute, Notre Dame's Michael Thomas converted a penalty kick to even the score.
In the 71st minute, Justin Morrow tallied the game-winner with a blast from 35 yards out that found the back of the net to make it 2-1. Seton Hall could not get a shot off over the game's final 27 minutes.
McHenry made five stops in defeat, while Phillip Tuttle was credited with one save for Notre Dame.
The Fighting Irish finished with a 14-7 edge in shots, led by three each from Thomas and Jeb Brovsky. Martinez paced the Pirates with a game-high four.
