SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Georgetown on Wednesday night at Owen T. Carroll Field. The Pirates (4-6-1, 1-4-1) led most of the way but were victimized by a late rally from the Hoyas (7-3-1, 4-2-0).
The Hall took the lead in the 29th minute when junior Kurt Cameron (Bronx, N.Y.) headed home a corner kick off the foot of classmate Brayan Martinez (West Orange, N.J.) for his first goal of the year and a 1-0 lead.
The Pirates dominated the first half, outshooting the Hoyas, 12-3.
Georgetown picked up its offensive attack in the second half, peppering senior Seton Hall keeper Paul McHenry (Ephrata, Pa.) with shots. The Hoyas finally broke through in the 77th minute when Jose Colchao and Scott Larrabee set up a close range shot for Andy Riemer that tied the game, 1-1.
With momentum on its side, Georgetown found success again in the 82nd minute. Tommy Muller sent a pass towards the middle, where Colchao cut through the defense for a header that found the back of the net.
The Pirates managed a few runs at the Hoyas' net as time wound down, but could not come up with the equalizer.
McHenry made four saves for the Hall, while Matthew Brutto stopped seven shots for Georgetown.
Junior Dritan Sela (Wayne, N.J.) finished with a game-high six shots for Seton Hall, while Seth C'Debaca paced the Hoyas with four.
Seton Hall is back in action on Saturday against Marquette, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Owen T. Carroll Field.
