Men's Soccer Announces 2009 Schedule

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's soccer program has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2009 season beginning this fall.  The Pirates will open the new year on Sep. 1 at Monmouth, kicking off the 81st season of Hall soccer.

The Pirates’ first regular season home match of the year is set for Sep. 7 when Princeton visits Owen T. Carroll Field.  BIG EAST play commences on September 18 with a trip to Syracuse.  The first home conference game of the year comes on Sep. 25 against in-state rival Rutgers.

Seton Hall will also welcome Villanova, Georgetown, Marquette, Connecticut and West Virginia to South Orange for conference matches, while traveling to St. John’s, Notre Dame, Providence and Pittsburgh.

Highlighting the non-conference schedule is a trip to defending national champion Maryland on Oct. 20.  The Terrapins posted a 23-3-0 record in 2008.  The Pirates will also make trips to Penn and Stony Brook while hosting Virginia Commonwealth. 

The first two rounds of the BIG EAST Championship will be held on the home field of the higher seed, while the semifinals and title game will be played at West Virginia.
