SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall softball team will play its final four BIG EAST home games when they host Pittsburgh and USF for double-headers at Ivy Hill Park this weekend. In between games of the Pittsburgh series on Saturday, there will be a ceremony honoring the five seniors on this year’s squad.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Pittsburgh swept Buffalo on Tuesday and are winners of three of its last four. Sam Card leads the team with a .296 batting average, 12 doubles, and 22 RBI. In the circle, Cory Berliner and Alyssa O’Connell have been the Panthers top pitchers. Berliner is 7-8 with a 2.22 ERA and 76 strikeouts. O’Connell holds an 8-4 record with a 3.10 ERA and 50 K’s.

SCOUTING THE BULLS
USF was swept by DePaul last weekend and will take on St. John’s on Saturday before heading to Ivy Hill Park. The Bulls have played just twice since the start of April after a playing a front-loaded non-conference schedule in February and March. Cat Olnick, Britta Giddens, and Janine Richardson are all hitting over .300 and have driving in the majority of the Bulls’ runs. The pitching staff is anchored by Cristi Ecks, who is 6-1 with a 1.83 ERA. USF rotates five players in their pitching staff virtually equally.
PESKY PIRATES
In two of the last three Seton Hall wins, they have comeback from multiple-run deficits. The Pirates rallied from four-down twice in a game one win over Providence, and against Fordham in game two, SHU scored four runs in the seventh inning to top the Rams.
REED BREAKS SINGLE-SEASON STEAL RECORD
Sophomore Michelle Reed stole her 23rd base of the season in the first inning of game one against Fordham, setting a new-single season record. In under two seasons, she has 35 stolen bases, which ranks sixth on the career list. She is 30 swipes shy of breaking that record.
ANOTHER MILESTONE REACHED
Senior Kim Schweitzer became just the seventh pitcher in Pirate history to record 200 career strikeouts with a K in the fourth inning of game one against Fordham.
