
Women's Swimming & Diving Sweeps Quad Meet

BALTIMORE, MD. - The Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team defeated Drexel, 190-108, Lafayette, 194-106, and Loyola 170-130, Saturday afternoon at the quad meet hosted by Loyola. With the victories, the team improved their record to 4-0 for the first time in school history.
The day began when sophomore Andrea Shuba (Pittsburgh, Pa.), freshmen Kerrie Kolackovsky (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and Jane Ehret (Florida, N.Y.), and junior Rose Virgilio (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay eighteen-hundredths of a second faster than Loyola.
The meet continued to go well for the foursome, including the freshmen as they earned six of the women's seven individual first place times.
Kolackocsky became the new Seton Hall school record holder in the 100 breaststroke while taking home her first place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and in the 500-yard freestyle. Classmate Ehret finished first in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley.
Shuba recorded the team's other first place score in the 200-yard backstroke while adding a second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley and third place in the 100-yard backstroke.
The fourth leg of the relay, Virgilio, finished her day with two second place scores in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle.
Junior Kaley Swider (Galloway, N.J.) ended the meet with a second place score in the 200-yard breaststroke and a fourth place score in the 100-yard breaststroke, while freshmen Kelley Markwell (Old Bridge, N.J.) earned third place times in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly.
Sophomore Brenna O'Keefe (Hyde Park, N.Y.) ended the afternoon swimming to a second place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, and senior Brittany Henning (Batavia, Ill.) finished just ahead of Swider in the 100-yard breaststroke.
On the diving boards, Brittany Hervey (Bethpage, N.Y.) recorded second place scores in the 1 and 3-meter events. Junior Kaitlyn Karl (Erie, Pa.) took home third in the 3-meter board while freshman Katie Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 3-meter event.
In addition to winning two of three meets on Saturday, the team picked up their 12th and 13th BIG EAST Championship qualifying scores with senior Kara Walbaum (Long Valley, N.J.) and sophomore Alie Zelenky (Mechanicsburg, Pa.).
The women's team will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to New Rochelle, N.Y. to take on Iona. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
