Women's Diving Kicks-Off 2010 Swimming And Diving BIG EAST Championships

PITTSBURGH, PA. - Senior Ashley Williams (Clearwater, Fla.), red-shirt sophomore Brittany Hervey (Bethpage, N.Y.), and sophomore Kaitlyn Karl (Erie, Pa.) have completed the preliminary rounds of the 1-meter diving events Friday afternoon during the 2010 diving BIG EAST Championships in Pittsburgh.
Hervey recorded a 23rd place finish with a score of 203 while Williams followed in 27th place at 176.85. Karl finished in 30th with a score of 166.65. Eighteen of the 33 swimmers move on to the final round which will be held later on this evening. Heidi Grossman and Natalie Stitt, both from Notre Dame, finished first and second with scores on 266.25 and 262.75 respectively.
Despite not moving on to the final round, Williams, Hervey, and Karl will continue to compete in the conference championships when they dive the 3-meter events. The preliminary rounds are scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
