Softball Drops 5-1 Decision to Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C - The Seton Hall softball team fell to Charlotte, 5-1, in its second game of the UNC-Charlotte Green & White Tournament. The Pirates (1-1) will face Marshall at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The 49ers (9-0) scored in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Serena Smith. Seton Hall answered in the bottom half of the inning to knot things at 1-1 off of a single by Kristen Kaelin (Parlin, N.J.), plating Brittany Schillizzi (Paramus, N.J.).
Charlotte regained the lead on a sacrifice fly in the third inning, and added two more insurance runs on a squeeze play and a single by Natalie Blanton.
The Pirates mustered just two hits after the first inning and the 49ers went on for the victory. Kaelin finished 2-for-3 with a double.
Senior Danielle Zanzalari (Carteret, N.J.) took the loss (0-1) after giving up four runs in five innings of work.
