Brittany Hammer Selected to BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Freshman Brittany Hammer (Manheim, Pa.) was tabbed for the BIG EAST Softball Honor Roll on Monday after helping the Pirates go 4-1 last week. Hammer was nearly impossible to get out, batting .636 (7-for-11) with an .818 slugging percentage and four RBI, which more than doubled her total for the season.

The shortstop began the week with a pair of doubles and scored two runs in a 9-1 romp of Iona on Wednesday. In game two, even Hammer's outs were productive as she knocked in the first run of the game in a 4-1 victory over the Gaels to help seal a sweep. Over the weekend, Hammer went 4-for-6 from the dish, driving in a pair of runs and scoring three, which led the team.

And while boasting the team's hottest bat, she still managed to lay down three sacrifice hits, leading to three important runs during the week.
